Our Farm

Chyngton farm

Cuckmere Camping Pods is situated on Chyngton Farm, a 550 acre National Trust owned grassland farm.  The farm has a rich history from the the iron age, through to the Normans, the medieval period and more recently the Great War, during which hundreds of Canadian troops were stationed here, as well as remnants from World War II in the form of anti-tank traps, pill boxes and bunkers.

Our family have farmed here for the last 30 years. We have a passion for what we do and take great pride in producing high quality livestock and maintaining the beautiful landscape.

We have a commercial herd of around 60 Sussex beef cattle, who graze on the pastures for part of the year. We also have 750 ewes, which start lambing in early February. The sheep are in the fields most of the year, just coming inside for a few weeks during lambing.

Chyngton Farm is a working farm, so we cannot offer complete peace and tranquility. There will be farm vehicles moving about and the cattle and sheep can, on occasion, be noisy neighbours!
